| Shirley was known in some circles as "Mama Star Trek" because of her tireless efforts to keep Star Trek alive and kicking. She served from the early 1970's until her death as the Chairman of the Star Trek Welcommittee, a clearing house for information on the show. Shirley passed away in April 2004.
