The Movie
Gerry Downes
For three years one time
I became – James Kirk
A
part that I once played
Upon
a stage
For the lights action cameras.
We
made the cold
Galactic
nights
A
little warmer
He and I.
I
gave him
Every
single thing
I
knew about myself
And
so he grew
Becoming
even more
Than me.
While
I went on
With
my life
He
stayed
Aboard
that ship
Sailing
swift and sure
Among
those stars
Touching
golden suns
That
I can only watch
And
dream of touching.
If
I could
Be
him once again
It
would be different
This
time
For
I could give him
Now
Every
new thing
That
I learned
This
earthbound decade --
Especially
the ways
I
know now
Not
to be afraid.
Take
another shore leave
Jim
Kirk,
Beam
on down a while,
We
could do it all
Once
more --
You
can come home again.
